Sansevieria Zeylanica - This variety has thick upward growing leaves in a sword shape. They have dark and lighter green markings. Some might have white looking patches which is completely normal. Color varies depending on environment grown in. Can grow to heights around 2.5 ft (75 cm).
The snake plant is one of the easiest houseplants to grow and care for. It practically thrives on neglect. Prefers and grows best in bright indirect sunlight but can also be tolerant in full sun and low light conditions. Allow to dry between watering. Do not over water as this can cause root rot which can cause the plant to die. If planting in a pot or container, make sure it has good drainage and the soil is a well draining soil potting mix. These plants like to have their leaves wiped down periodically. There are many benefits of the snake plant. According to Nasa's Clean Air Study, the snake plant is considered to be one of the highest oxygen producing plants even producing oxygen at night. The same Nasa Clean Air Study also mentions snake plants work double time removing harmful toxins like benzene, formaldehyde, and xylene from our indoor environments.
